Steve Neptune brings a world of experience to his role as Head Coach at Neptune Elite Volleyball Academy, blending elite-level competitive achievements with nearly half a century of coaching wisdom. His journey is rooted in high-performance play, academic training in psychology and education, and holistic athlete development, making him a trusted mentor for volleyball players aiming to excel both on and off the court.

Athletic & Professional Career

Collegiate Standout

Excelled at Long Beach City College for two seasons as a dominant middle blocker. In 1982, he led his team to State and National Championships, earning First Team All-Metro Conference, First Team All-State, and Junior College All-American honors. He then accepted a full scholarship to Long Beach State, where he continued his success at the Division I level.

International Playing Career

Transitioned from middle blocker in college to professional setter overseas. Signed multiple contracts and competed indoors across the globe with teams including VC Passau (Germany), Moscow VC (Russia), Yugoslavia, Whistler BC (Canada), Chiva Saki (Japan), and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). His career reflects the rare versatility to play both front-row and setter positions at the professional level.

AVP Tour Competitor

Competed full-time on the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Tour, earning a Top-10 seed and playing alongside and against some of the world’s top beach volleyball athletes.

With 45 years of coaching experience, Steve has cultivated talent across youth, high school, college, and professional levels in both indoor and beach volleyball.

I competed at the highest level of our sport in college and professionally around the world, indoors and on the beach, as an AVP touring athlete playing with, and against, the best in the world. This has given me a unique perspective I am excited to share with you not just about volleyball, but about life, logic, and philosophy as well.”
